FREE Family Fun in the Cape Town Sunshine

1-32pm

Yesterday afternoon, Mike suggested we go for a walk on Noordhoek Beach. I haven’t been there for years, so off we went. The first thing you notice on getting to the beach parking is that, on a beautiful sunny, Sunday afternoon, it is busy. You may need to park on Beach Rd. and walk, but it is worth it. It just so happened that as we arrived, someone was leaving and we got a parking spot very close to the path to the beach.

So long it has been since I went walking on Noordhoek Beach, that I can’t remember there being such a nice boardwalk….

The Boardwalk at Noordhoek Beach

When we got to the end of the boardwalk, it was amazing to see that the lagoon is so big….

Lagoon at Noordhoek Beach….and that a river connected it to the sea. It made a great playground for children and animals alike…

The river heading towards the seaLooking back towards the lagoon, with the sun behind me….a bubbling brook and perfect on a warm winter’s afternoon…

River heading towards the car parkWe crossed the river, which was shallow and not too cold…

Across the river on the sea side of Noordhoek BeachAnd then walked across soft white sand to  glorious turquoise water….

Pristine beach - beautiful turquoise seaIdyllic! It wasn’t nearly as busy as it felt it should have been….

Below Chapman's Peak Noordhoek BeachWe walked for quite some distance, before crossing the beach and walking back along the lagoon. There were a number of riders out enjoying the afternoon….

Horse on Noordhoek BeachNot a cent was spent on this spectacular outing. There was not even a ‘car guard’  in sight! It’s free family entertainment in the hidden ‘north corner’  of our wonderful city. If you are anywhere out of the deep south, it’s worth the drive.

And so the sun set on our anniversary weekend. We had enjoyed every bit of it…

Sunset after a beautiful weekendI was up early this morning and after Mike, left for work, I did my Bible reading.

Psalm 32:7

“You are my hiding place; you will protect me from trouble & surround me with songs of deliverance.”

Corrie Ten Boom made this verse famous. Incarcerated in a concentration camp during WW2, she suffered in terrible conditions. Rats, fleas, starvation, illness, cruelty by the Gestapo. She was trapped and there was no light at the end of the tunnel. No one knew how or if the war would end or if anyone would get out alive. Hundreds of thousands of Jews did not. Amidst all of this, Corrie Ten Boom read and memorised Psalm 32:7. Seeking refuge in the only One she could, she tucked herself tightly, emotionally, mentally & spiritually into the Hiding Place of the Lord Jesus Christ. There she waited until deliverance came. Often-times, we cannot control our circumstances, but we can control our response to them. Make Jesus your Hiding Place today. He will protect you from the storm until deliverance comes.

Keep the smile going!

 God bless you!
