Today we got the final quote and invoice for the foundations. These will be serious foundations. We initially thought we would need a dozen piles at R20 000 each, but the piling company in liaison with the builder and engineer agreed we most likely will only need 9. Three rows of three. He gave us a discount on the individual piles, charging R17000 each but there are still some set up costs. So the cost is R187000 with a R65450 deposit.
We are interested to work out how much it will cost us to get to the point when the foundations are complete and we can get on with the wet work and building the balance of the house. So far, we’ve got these costs. I put them here as a record for those interested in building (for now) and for those looking back in 20 years time and seeing what everything cost!
- Plans R27 500
Engineering costs R32 600
Conveyancer’s certificate R1150
Second dwelling costs R23 128
Foundations R187 000
Total so far R271 378
We’ve paid for most of the plans, the conveyancer certificate & the second dwelling costs. The next bill we are waiting for will be from the land surveyor who is coming on Monday. As soon as the project begins, we will pay the engineer as well.
All of this is halved between Julian and ourselves, so that makes all the difference.
Today I worked less than 7 hours. I started at 7ish and worked through until about 9-30am when I went to gym. Got home, recovered and worked for most of the afternoon. I’m getting into my new role, but it is much busier and has a ton of moving parts. Learning curve every day.
Hebrews 4:16
Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
We can have confidence in approaching God. Let’s do it!
These are the days.
Keep the smile going.
God bless you.
In His Grip,
Helga xx 🙂
