Don’t Crack Up Under Pressure

This morning the washing machine danced! I was upstairs when I heard it making rather a racket. Then Mavis called me down and she went ahead of me into the garage (where the washing machine is). For plumbing purposes it is on a specially built ledge. On top of it is stored a body board and the cat transport box. As Mavis entered the garage, both of these items tumbled down and scared Mavis silly. She yelled and bolted back into the house! The washing machine was violently shaking, completely imbalanced and was now teetering on the edge of the ledge. A few more moments and it  would have crashed down. I stepped inside the garage, reached up and turned it off. The washing machine stopped its tantrum and glared soapily at me. Together Mavis and I pushed it back into its place. I checked all the pipes were in the right spots and restarted it. It jumped back into life and having righted itself, was no longer imbalanced.

At the Blue Route this morning, I passed a jewellery store – what this has to do with watches, I don’t know, but it’s a good thing to remember.

Don't crack under pressure

The gyrating washing machine doesn’t really classify as pressure under which one may crack, but had I joined Mavis in jumping back, together we may have witnessed an enormous crash.

I think keeping calm in a crisis is one of the hardest, yet most important things to do. The bigger the crisis the harder it is to achieve.

Pressure comes dressed in many different ways. Financial struggles – not enough money and too many needs – must be one of the biggest stresses this life has to offer.  Tense family relationships, ill health, too much work and not enough time all contribute to pressure and when there are more than one of them at the same time, it is like being trapped in a pressure cooker. Something’s gonna blow.

When you are feeling frazzled, remain calm and remind yourself to seek the King of peace.

Psalm 81:1

“Sing for joy to God OUR STRENGTH.”

Arrow prayers sent up in a crisis is always helpful. If the stress is over a period of time, seek God daily. He is our Strength and a Help in time of trouble. He’s always there waiting to hear from you, keen to assist you, ready to listen to you, able to calm you. Nothing happens without His knowledge. There are no surprises with God. He knows the outcome from the beginning, so trust Him today because NOTHING is going to happen to you without God’s presence, His permission and His purpose being worked out in your life.

For that reason, you can keep the smile going and sing for joy to God OUR STRENGTH!

God bless you!

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂
