Discombobulated
Discombobulated is a good description of me this morning. It means “confused and disconcerted.” That’s exactly how I felt when the power went off at 8am and only came back at 10-20am. It went off again at 4pm and is due back on again at 6-30pm. This is load shedding on steroids. This morning Mike and I went down to Fish Hoek and discovered one shop after another was closed. On the Main Rd Fish Hoek, Clicks was closed as was CNA, the hairdressers, cell phone shops and a whole lot of other places….not able to keep their doors open during load shedding. It’s taken more than 4 hours off their opening time – 4 hours less business. It’s not helpful for businesses that are already struggling to stay afloat.
Mike and I wrote to a company asking for them to sort us out with a solar-powered system. I guess we will have to get in the queue. The sooner we can get continuity during these outages the better. Meantime, my loadshedding friend has been this…
I’ve also been enjoying Jane Austen’s Persuasion. 🙂
Today I got news of the house build. First I received messages from Leanne the plans lady who said the roads department has come back to her and sent her the form needed to get the second dwelling levy fee calculated. Then Werner the builder called about a couple of things. He is meeting with the engineer next week and just needed to confirm that there will be an engineering bill for that. He also said he had been in contact with Leanne (hounding her weekly!) and there may not be a need for the neighbour’s consent and she was going to phone the building inspector. That would be good news. We hope to meet with Werner in a couple of weeks when he brings us his quote. So we’ll see what happens next.
This evening we woke up to the fact that tomorrow is Valentine’s Day! Mike has gone down to the mall to do what Valentines do! I’m the spoiled happy recipient of whatever he will buy! I’ve discovered the gym remains open when there is loadshedding. Tomorrow we are due to be without power from 4pm, so I’m planning on using that time wisely and heading for the gym then. I get to sleep in!
The prayers for young Kiara continue.
Genesis 1:27
God created mankind in His own image, in the image of God He created them; male and female He created them.
These are the days.
Keep the smile going.
God bless you.
