It was a baptism of fire. Going for the jugular!
The neighbour on the Simon’s Town side of our Echo house has the most to lose when it comes to our build. That window is a bedroom window and while he will still be able to see Kalk Bay, most of the Fish Hoek view will be obscured by our new build.
He’s the neighbour that is most affected. He lives in Johannesburg and visits once a month and is just so happens that he was leaving to go back to Johannesburg today. While in Cape Town, he stays with his brother who is a property developer and lawyer – so he doesn’t stay at his house next door. He came with his brother to drop his car off in his house’s garage and then the brother was giving him a lift to the airport. At the moment his house is not occupied which is a good thing because the piling is quite noisy!
Anyway, there was much discussion and he had a good look both from our perspective and from his house. His brother understood the process and knows the drill so he was pretty much on our side and sounded quite lenient. But this did not mean that the owner would sign. He would think about it and email us back with his answer. They were both very nice though.
And so we will wait. Tomorrow, we meet one of the owners behind us. He has already said he will sign whatever he needs to. We didn’t object to his plans to build so he won’t object to ours. That leaves the neighbours on the other side (who live in Germany and rent the house) as well as the other plot owner behind us and the two across the road. Today I knocked on one of their doors but there was no one home. We’ll go again tomorrow.
Mike had a restless night with his blood pressure being taken every hour. Today, he was happy to ditch the thing and we got the results…we suspect that the one at 11am was an error. We were at Decorex. He may have been deep in concentration and not realised his arms were folded. I’m hoping that’s the case. There were other anomalies, like at 1-30 when it registered 182/56. I guess the doctor will say more when he gets the results on Monday
Last night I came upstairs to bed and found this sweet sight.
Truffles has been doing so well. She has gained weight and is eating morning, noon and night. I sometimes think her tongue may have been an issue for much longer than originally thought. Since she’s had it stitched and healing has taken place she has eaten more than I’ve ever known her to.
Today has been quite a busy day. After Mike and I went to return his blood pressure equipment, we came home immediately. I had work to do. The main director I work with has had some health issues and was admitted to hospital. Today we worked together so he could get CVs out to schools. I emailed the ones he wanted to him and he emailed the schools. Out of that came two interview requests, one for tomorrow and one for Wednesday, so it was a profitable day. I worked for nearly 5 hours, taking a break only to go to Echo and meet the neighbour.
When the director had done enough, I logged off and Mike and I walked the entire length of Ranger Rd. In the end altogether we covered 7km, jogging about 1km of it to get warm. It was wonderful! That was today!
Matthew 4:4
Jesus answered, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.'”
There are far more important things in life than houses.
These are the days.
Keep the smile going.
God bless you.
In His Grip,
Helga xx 🙂
