Monday
Dear Elsie
Today was the day we all went to the dentist. When we were on the ship Mike had a filling come out. It wasn’t sore so he didn’t do anything about it. But we did phone David and ask him to make appointments for us for the dentist. Today was the day. It takes 25 minutes to walk to the dentist from our house. The view from the hill.
The beach is completely empty because there was a sewerage spill yesterday so they said ‘no swimming.’ Today they tested the water and got the results back which were okay, so tomorrow we may get a swim in. The beach has been reopened.
I arrived at the dentist first so went straight in. After a quick examination, the dentist took x-rays. It’s the first time he has seen the inside of my mouth since my jaw surgery which, believe it or not, was 2 and a half years ago! Yup. June 2020. Time passes so quickly. He was very impressed – and was in awe at what can be done. The x-rays showed no cavities, so I was happy about that. David has not been to the dentist for a very long time. He needed a filling – it’s his first ever, which is quite an achievement. Mike had his tooth fixed as well. I walked home again and they followed a little while later.
The other thing that we noticed today was the familiar rumble of a passing train. After another absence, the train service between Fish Hoek and Simon’s Town has recommenced.
One of these days I’m going to catch that train!
I worked this morning and then at lunchtime, we walked to Fish Hoek to do some shopping. This afternoon, we cleaned the Seaview Apartment as the guests checked out a day early. They had made an error with their son’s wedding plans. I made soup this afternoon and am now gearing up for a quiet evening.
The day has been lovely. Summer in Cape Town.
Isaiah 9:6
For to us a child is born, to us a Son is given, and the government will be on His shoulders. And He will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
The best is yet to come – we are only passing through.
Keep the smile going.
God bless you.
In His Grip,
Gran xx 🙂
