I have had to deal with some disappointment today. I felt the sting of not being successful in an interview for a really nice job. I had to dig deep to not let the rejection overtake my enjoyment of the day. This is life! When these things happen, you have to continue to ‘lay them down’, understanding that your trust is not in man, but in God. He has got something better. God is faithful.
As I wrote on the Helga’s Daily Blog Facebook page this morning, He hears us when we call and He answers our prayers when we trust Him. I don’t want to blow hot and cold. I want to be steadfast in my faith in Jesus. If you don’t have FB, here’s what I wrote:
“As I arrived in the book of 1 Chronicles recently, the thought did cross my mind that it is a bit boring. I have been quite determined not to gloss over the Word of God, even the so-called ‘dry’ bits. I read intentionally, looking at the lists of strange names and trying to follow generations. Every now and again in this often overlooked book, you find an event that jumps out at you. Towards the end of 1 Chronicles 5, there’s an account of how some of God’s people went to war. The Israelites had been blowing hot and cold….sometimes trusting God, other times not. During the battle, they cried out to God. Verse 20 says “He answered their prayers because they trusted Him”. When we trust God, He answers our prayers. As you go about your business today, lay down the thoughts you have before God. Lay down your plans before the Creator. Trust whole-heartedly in Jesus our God and King. Cry out to Him. He will answer your prayers. ”
God is so faithful and kind. He will never let us down. Out of the blue, a day or two ago, I received a job offer on ODesk. It was for writing – which is one of my passions. I was curious because the person that offered me the job did so directly and I was the only person. That’s unusual. Most times you bid for a job with dozens of others. As I live in South Africa, a lot of employers have no idea of what to expect, so they count out any foreigners. I accepted the job with low expectations as to my success, so I was thrilled to get an email back to say she felt we had a ‘match!’ After doing one small job for the client, I received a bigger one. When I wrote to her saying how happy I am with the work and to accept it, I also asked her how she found me on ODesk. Here’s what she wrote:
When I read this, I saw kind words from a lady far away, but I also saw the fingerprints of God. He is faithful and kind and I witnessed it in that email. 🙂
I had a good gym work this morning ANDÂ got an added bonus in that LEANNE is home from Dubai! Riana & I had a quick cuppa with Melanie and Leanne after gym. Yay!!! We were at Blue Water Cafe which has this stunning view, enhanced by the beauty of the day…
