CV Tips 101

Oh my goodness! There are some basics that should be employed when completing a CV. As I scroll through the CVs that I receive, there are some monumental blunders that jump out.

  1. DO NOT PLAGIARIZE

Yip! When I see lists of roles and responsibilities, it’s a red flag, especially when it starts with “the” eg. The Educator is responsible for! I immediately copy the list and paste it into a plagiarism finder and voila! 80% plagiarized! If you are going to make your own CV, please put in your own words!

2. Check your spelling and grammar.

You will not believe the really bad English I read, not only on a teacher’s CV but also on an English teacher’s CV. The grammar is lacking. Word order is completely wrong. Spelling errors. Some even spell principal, principle! As a teacher, you are expected to be particular about what you are teaching and it goes without saying that your written English has to be flawless. In this day and age of technology, there is no excuse for spelling errors. That’s what Spellcheck is for!

Those two things were the two primary blunders that I was faced with today. I wanted to write a snotty email to the teachers concerned but remembered my Bible verse from the other day – the reckless words one. Well I’m trying to be more gentle with my approach, so when I get to speak to these teachers, I will tell them the importance of these issues.

Anyway, for more tips on how to do a CV, please see the blog I did on it.

(Irony! Someone may accuse me of copying the do not copy sign, but I know a trick. When you are looking for an image. Go to images, then click on Tools. Another list will appear allowing you to filter the images for reuse. I chose one labeled for reuse!)

 🙂

Today has been a catch-up day. I actually did NO work yesterday! So today I’ve spent most of the day catching up and I am glad I have done so, as, God willing,  Monday morning quite early, I’ll head for the airport and fly to Johannesburg for interviews on Tuesday. Home Tuesday evening and at the Cape Town interviews on Wednesday.

#256 of my 1000 thanks is for this catch up day. No stress. Just the pleasure of sorting out documentation. #grateful!

We were hoping for rain, but alas, it did not come. There is a possibility of some this evening.

I woke up at 3am this morning and after lying awake for a while, I decided to make good use of the time and did my Bible reading. (Then I went back to sleep again!)

Proverbs 12:24

Diligent hands will rule, but laziness ends in slave labour.

Good lessons to be learned in Proverbs.

These are the days!

Keep the smile going.

God bless you!

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂
