Conflict! I detest it with a passion. I avoid confrontation & only deal with it when I absolutely have to. I am Helga – happy Helga – outgoing, bubbly, cheerful Helga! Ask anyone who knows me! I am an optimist to the nth degree. In my world I avoid negativity. In my head everything is going to be alright. And because I am a ‘ talker’ I am aware that I, more times than not, had better keep quiet. So when it comes to conflict, I generally leave it well alone.
But yesterday someone – let me call him a wise man with many years experience reminded me of a quote. It is by an Irish author & statesman, Edmund Burke, who lived from 1729-1797. He is credited with saying “All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing. “ I decided yesterday, it was time to speak out about some of the negative issues I have encountered, so at least I cannot be accused of having done nothing.
Ecclesiastes 3vs 7. A time to be silent & a time to speak.
Most of the time it is best to keep quiet. And when speaking, it is the hardest to do for fear of hurting others…so it has to be done with care and thought. I hope I haven’t hurt anyone but sometimes you can’t tell the truth without causing dents in fragile egos.
I just want everyone to be happy & too many people around me are not, so the cause of the unhappiness had to be addressed, difficult as it was. I will wait & see if the outcome is positive. Something has to change. I pray it does.
So today after the show I took myself off to Knead where I was in need of some solitary time. I crossed the railway line to get there. This railway line with the best view in Cape Town. ….
This is my view from Knead. I hadn’t been there for a long time and really like that they have enclosed the stoep…
I had a red cappuccino which was really good. ….
I just about finished show prep & did a chunk of this blog, putting myself on top of things for today! 🙂
Had coffee with friends, went to gym and now am home about to wrap up show prep and get some dinner on the go.
Hope you enjoyed the Butternut & Sweet Potato soup recipe!
Lamentation 3:22-23 says: Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for His compassion never fails. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness.
God bless you loads!
In His Grip,
Helga xx 🙂
