Getting our cars washed have always been an interesting exercise. In days gone by, Mike regularly used a local passer-by who was looking for work, to wash our cars. Mike wanted to help and this was a way to do just that. Until one day, the local fella used a scourer on Mike’s car and pretty much ruined the paintwork! 🙁 Since then, we have been nervous of extending our kindness to helpers, choosing rather to do it ourselves or book it in for a wash. The dirt on my car has been getting thicker. It’s covered in this kind of dirt…from roof to wheels…
I once tried to wash it but did a pretty bad job. Yesterday, I was reminded of the drive through car-wash down at Sun Valley BP garage (behind where the new mall is going up). This morning, I trundled down and discovered the drive through was only R35! They took off my car aerial, sprayed down the car and lined me up on the rail on the right…
Then with these instructions fresh in my mind: leave the engine on, leave the car in neutral, do not brake and don’t open the windows (duh), I was on my way…
The soapy water gets thicker….
….and thicker…actually it’s not for the claustrophobic!
The bright pink rollers are fast approaching…
Until eventually, they’re there…
The car continues to glide forward and the pink rollers clean the sides….
It’s fun to wash, if not a little eerie! But soon you are forced forward to a barrier that boldly instructs you not to brake. The barrier starts to rise and another instruction comes into view…
Something about the traffic light being green. I wait. Ah, there you go…
Only to be met by a friendly gent who quickly dried off my windows.
All for R35!
In about 10 minutes!
Quick and inexpensive. Safe and clean.
Sounds good to me!
Nice sparkly car!
Even the tyres are nice and shiny!
That was a good deal. Now I know where I will be going every couple of weeks.
Such fun!
Today, I started reading the book of Job in the Old Testament.
Job 1:1
“In the land of Uz there lived a man whose name was Job. This man was blameless and upright; he feared God and shunned evil.”
Wise man.
Keep the smile going.
God bless you!
In His Grip,
