I got a lot out of today. Unless I set a goal, quite often a Saturday can drift by aimlessly without getting too much achieved. I woke up in the night psychologically preparing myself to wash windows today. I worked through the thought process of how I was going to wash them. Water and vinegar in a spray bottle was going to be the washing solution. A rag, newspaper and paper towel would finish the job.
We had a late rising and it was about 9am when I sat down at my desk and wrote up a (rather challenging) Saturday To-Do List…
I completed my To-Do list with some modifications.
- I washed some windows.
- I started my tax and got about half way through.
Actually, once I get into it, I enjoy the tax bit. It puts my life in order. I made a new spreadsheet which is shared with Stacey. She’s a whizz at accounting and tax returns. She does all her own and helps us with ours. Once she’s sorted mine, I send it to my tax consultant who confirms it. At year-end, he does a lot more which is the only reason why I keep him. I added a page to the spreadsheet with monthly expenses and that helped. Quite an eye opener what it costs us to live. I decided to aim to spend an hour on the tax and an hour on the windows. In the end I spent about 1 and a half on the tax and maybe 45 minutes on the windows. The ones I selected to wash are prominent and they look much better!
I did the food order and the washing – got that on the line, got it off the line and folded it.
Off I went to the gym and got on the bike. I plugged in my ear phones to my cell phone and looked up an Andy Stanley message. The first one, latest that came up was entitled “Gently Used”. It was 35 minutes. Perfect. I cycled and listened. It was excellent. You can watch or listen here.
Once it was over, I decided to shoot for 30kms, so that’s what I did in the end. I cycled 30km in 1 hour, 13 minutes and 28 seconds. The swim was a bit of a struggle. It felt like I was swimming through treacle. I admired Lewis Pugh all the more. I finished my 30 lengths and a few extra and then had a shower. Felt great!
#752 of my 1000 thanks is that I finished the To-Do List.
There is a cold front on its way! Yay for rain!
1 Corinthians 16:13
Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong.
Such sound advice. I smile when I read this verse. I wrote it down one day and took it with me on a walk around the neighbourhood. As I walked, I tried to memorise it. Once I felt I had it down, I popped the piece of paper with the verse on in a random post box and walked on. I wondered who would find it and if they would read it. I imagined someone crying out to God for a message of encouragement, opening his/her post box and finding this simple message.
These are the days.
Keep the smile going.
God bless you.
In His Grip,
Helga xx 🙂
