Celebrating Life After Cancer

1-11pm

This morning, we woke up late! I had turned my alarm clock off and so we woke up when we woke up! It was something like 7-45am. I got up and made coffee and went back to bed again. Mike & I chatted and chatted. I had a 10 o’clock plan to meet Joey, a Rise and Shine listener, who, like many others have become a friend.  Mike and I are talking away and I’m thinking, ‘just now I must check the time.’ So we get to the end of the conversation and I pick up my cell phone. IT’S 10AM!

Gasp!! I quickly sent her a message…

Message to JoeyThen I hopped out of my pajamas, washed and dressed and shot out the house. By 10-15am, I was at Ellie’s Deli! I felt so bad. Being in radio has made me extremely punctual, so I’m not given to being late! Shock! Horror! Apologising profusely, I explained what happened. Joey is very patient and she was very gracious towards my tardiness! We had a wonderful time together, captured in this selfie…

Joey and IGod is never late. His timing is always perfect. In fact, many times His appearance of making us wait is for our own good. He loves us and has our best interest at heart. Most of all, He wants all of us to be saved from an eternity without Him.

Romans 2:4

Or do you show contempt for the riches of His kindness, forbearance and patience, not realizing that God’s kindness is intended to lead you to repentance?

The other thing that is on my mind is amazing Melanie Wilson! This is a friend who I have journeyed with through  a diagnosis of breast cancer and treatment. The deal is if you are female you are at risk of breast cancer. And the older you get, the higher the risk. So now as I am at the most wonderfully fulfilling age of nearly 50, I have friends who have had breast lumps that have been malignant. One year ago today, Melanie started chemotherapy. She has been a role model to us in many ways. The best way for me to explain it here is to show what I said on her Facebook page a short while ago…

FB commentI see Melanie at least twice a week as, not only is she my friend, she is also my personal trainer. If you are in the Fish Hoek Valley and are looking for someone to help you get fit, she is ideal. Not only do you get someone working on your physical fitness, you’ll find Mel does a great job in feeding you emotionally as well. She’s a star! Email me at helgasdailyblog@gmail.com for her phone number.  You can also check out her Personal Performance Gym Facebook page here.

She’s also part of my Friday Bible study group…this photo was taken the day before her first chemo, when we met for Sushi. Melanie is hugging Leanne who has walked the same road.

MelanieWith God, all things are possible! Don’t ever forget that!

God bless you!

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂
