2-51pm
They tell us RAIN IS COMING. The north-wester has been howling all day, but it’s expected to pick up to 75km/hour in places between Cape Point and Cape Aghulas. That’s a bit of a breeze. So here in Rooi Els, the o-t-h-e-r side of False Bay, we are now in for the night…soup is on the go already…
We have been having a lovely time. Having never before stayed in Rooi Els this is all new to us. We have learned that there are only 30 permanent residents in Rooi Els, mostly retired folk who bought here decades ago. Mike & I went for a long walk yesterday and not long after leaving home, I put my water bottle down to take a photo, and then forgot to pick it up again. Only later on in the day did I realise I couldn’t find it. Darn! This morning, I went for a walk down the road, turned a bend…
…and there was the lost bottle, waiting where I’d left it!
Dassies looked on curiously…
This is one of my favourite photos. It looks out to Hangklip which is the one side of the entrance to False Bay. The other side is Cape Point….
And here is where we are staying….
Today we went for a drive to Pringle Bay. On the way we drove up a steep driveway and to the ruins of a house razed to the ground by a veld fire. The view from up there was amazing…
We had lunch at Pringle Bay, bought some more milk and bread and came home ahead of the rain. It is now overcast and the sea is churning up some serious swell.
Ezra 5:5 says, “But the eye of their God was watching.”
Yes! He is. He sees His sea. He watches His waves. He sees the clouds whipping across the sky. He will see the rain falling, the lightening flashing. The eye of our God is watching.
We are heading for the half way point through a beautiful restful break.
Oh dear! Oh dear! While doing the blog, the soup burnt! Mike has gone off to find more ingredients. It’s cooling in the kitchen and will be tossed before the rain comes…good fertilizer. Fortunately I caught it before the pot burnt!
Praise the Lord for a patient husband!
God bless you loads.
In His Grip,
Helga 🙂
