Back to Reality

We arrived home safe and sound yesterday afternoon. The house was in good order, but I have to admit that there were a few things that stood out, leaving me to admit that life on the ship is a false sense of reality. A dozen reasons why…

  • No responsibility
  • No maintenance
  • No cooking
  • No food shopping
  • No cleaning
  • No dishes
  • No insects
  • No spiders
  • No sirens
  • No poverty
  • No stress
  • No dust
  • Extreme rest

We were very relaxed when we arrived home. Reality hit hard. The roadworks had grown and thick layers of dust were settling everywhere. The garden looked a bit like a jungle, although my fruit trees were still alive! Sirens blared along the nearby road. Ah, a siren. Something I haven’t heard for a while.  And I saw a spider on my pillow!

We had to think about dinner. We had to look-see what groceries we needed. My car licence disk expired  a month ago. That had to be sorted.

This morning in a very short space of time (ten minutes at licence disc office) I felt myself becoming anxious. I took a few deep gulps of air and persuaded Bernard (the amazingly helpful guy at the Fish Hoek Traffic department) that I had FICA’ed already and just needed to get my new licence disk. Eventually, he sat me down and within minutes I was sorted.

On the ship, you don’t need a car!

Today, I cleaned and dusted, cooked and ate, sat and talked….AND I did some official work.

It was a good, profitable day and I enjoyed it.

#463 of my 1000 thanks is for a ‘ catch up’ day and that i didn’t need proof of residence to get my car licences.

Psalm 127:1

Unless the LORD builds the house, the builders labor in vain. Unless the LORD watches over the city, the guards stand watch in vain.

These are the days!

Keep the smile going.

God bless you!

In His Grip,

Helga xx
