And So The Lord Sent Dorothy…

1-46pm

Wayne put up on Facebook the story of what happened this morning..he wrote:

“A very touching experience at our radio station this morning. We were on air when a lady came to the reception and sent us a message that she would like to buy us a cup of coffee each and what would we like. Doesn’t seem like a big deal. People buy each other coffee every day. When she came back with a coffee for Helga and a hot chocolate for me I saw that she was a Beach Buddy (car guard).

These are people who guard cars in a parking lot the whole day for tips. Many are homeless and earn a few dollars a day. They are often badly treated, ignored and looked down upon by many people as serving no good. The emphasis of this story is they earn very little. She listens to CCFm and just wanted to say thank you for the programming we provide. Helga  and I were humbled by this widow’s mite experience. What an example of giving by someone who has so little. I think we can all learn a little from someone who gave out of her little to say thank you! Spare some change next time you park your car.

What was extra wonderful for me is that after donating blood last night, my blood pressure was in my boots and I needed a “pick-me-up” ….and so the Lord sent Dorothy! First time, in my 8 and a half years on air, that someone has come in off the street and offered to buy coffee for us. Here’s Dorothy with Wayne and I!

Thanks Dorothy! The Lord bless you! He will!

Luke 6:38 “Give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you.”

After the show, I did show prep and then headed for the Mall to buy dinner and buy a few small gifts for Adrian and Stacey in Cambodia. We have to send them a document, so I’m making the most of the courier service, paying a few hundred rands extra and sending a kg of stuff to them for Stacey’s birthday and tiny little gifts for Christmas! A bit tricky finding unique, small, light, useful or fun things but I’m getting there! I am so so so so so so so going to miss them this Christmas. But we will skype and I’m sure they will make different memories for themselves.  Next month David moves out which will leave the house very quiet indeed!

I bought sushi for lunch! Yum! I love the stuff and with all that salt, I’m beginning to feel a bit more with it! This morning, I was very slow. When I donated blood, the cuff was left quite inflated and the blood donation took only 7 minutes…it usually takes about 10 or 12. I felt very washed out.

I think I may have a little nap!

God bless you richly!

In His Grip,

Helga x 🙂
