Amazing Discovery

So let me just quickly do a few happy back-flips over what was found today.  Regular followers of my blog will remember that in October 2016 (before last year’s batch of burglaries), a crook got over my upstairs balcony, through the open balcony door and (while we were downstairs) stole my laptop, Mike’s wallet and my handbag with purse. The sentimental loss was far greater than the physical loss. On my laptop were some special items from Adrian and Stacey’s wedding: the audio of their vows, as well as photos. Also the wonderful family photo shoot of my 50th birthday. Mike and I also lost credit cards, cash, our driver’s licences and ID books. We immediately got new driver’s licences but have left our IDs unreplaced.

With the Baby due next month, we will be going back and forth to Swellendam so we had in mind to do our IDs (and my SA passport) in Worcester or Caledon, hoping the Home Affairs offices there will be quieter.

Then this happened.

Earlier this week I saw on Facebook a guy offering to come and wash cars – he will bring his own water and vacuum cleaner and he will charge R120 per car. I contacted him and he duly arrived and did a beyond fantastic job. He washed both cars, vacuumed inside, cleaned the rims and the windows and left the cars spotless. R240 well spent. So here comes the amazing discover. This morning, I used Mike’s car to go to gym because his golf kit was in mine. I got in and there, sitting on between the two seats was this:

My ID book was NOT stolen. It was under the seat of one of our cars!! I was so happy. Mike was so envious. One less thing to worry about and it absolutely makes up

  • #621 of my 1000 thanks! One ID book found.
  • #622 of my 1000 thanks is for two amazingly clean cars!

I was so surprised.  Now I’ve just got to get my SA passport renewed.

Today I went to gym, did 25 minutes of walking and jogging. Then it was the Grid and then 5 minutes cycling.  It was the 3rd Grid I have done this week, which is interesting. The first time I did the Grid was 29th November. It was hysterically difficult. When I finished and I went to walk down the stairs, my legs were like jelly. I really didn’t know if I would ever do it again. I persevered, going to the Grid once a week and then a few weeks ago when my friend Ingrid joined me, I started going twice a week. This week three times. I may not weigh less, but I am fitter! Tomorrow, God willing, I will do the Olympic Triathlon which will be 30 lengths in the pool, 20km bike ride and 5km run. I am going to try to do it in that order.

2 Corinthians 1:5

The more we suffer for Christ, the more God will shower us with His comfort through Christ.

God never leaves us. Right by our side.

These are the days.

Keep the smile going.

God bless you.

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂
