A Note in My Bible

Every June 3rd, when I open my Bible to read, I have a note which reminds me that on this day 2010, Carlyn phoned the CCFm studio and gave her life to Jesus. It unrolled like this…. which is what I wrote a year ago…so today it is seven years…

“Sometimes something completely unexpected happens that stays with you for the rest of your life. What happened on this day 6 years ago is one of those things. It was a regular Thursday morning and the Rise and Shine show I presented unfolded in the normal way.

We had a phone in feature at about 7-40am and that was busy taking place. People were calling in and sending text messages through. Suddenly the phone went quiet. It was about 14 minutes to 8 and we had about 7 minutes of music left until we were live again. The phone rang and I answered it. The voice at the other end was that of a young lady who asked if I could put her through to the prayer line. I told her the prayer line number and she replied saying she had tried it and there was no reply. I asked her if she could phone after 8am, to which she replied she couldn’t because she would be working them. Now with about 6 minutes of music left, I asked her what she would like prayer for.

“I want to ask Jesus into my life”, she said.

Wow! And that’s what I said, followed by, “what has happened that has bought you to this place?” She said her name was Carlyn and that she had been thinking about it for a while. Then that morning she was on the train when the preacher on the train said she had to make a decision and she realised she had to do it. When she got to work, all she could think of was the CCFm number, so she called.

With time running out on the music, I said, ‘okay, let’s pray.’ And simply and quietly I led her in a prayer of repentance and submission and she gave her life to Jesus! We said, “Amen” and then goodbye and I floated through the rest of the day.”

It’s good to be reminded of these special days.

Well guess what? I have a cold. From my throat up to my nose I’m bunged up and clogged up and croaky. You really want to stay away from me today. Actually, I’m going to take my germs and the few of us are heading to the mall to do some shopping for ‘rain food’. I know yesterday I said I was grateful for the rain, but I’m even more grateful when I see what is happening around Wemmershoek Dam later today.

We are so desperate for rain that when there is any sign of it, we are so very happy.

#313 of my 1000 thanks is for the rain that will fall in this vital catchment area. Praying the Lord will multiply every drop.

This morning I read Psalm 121. Such a lovely psalm.

Psalm 121:1-2

I lift up my eyes to the hills; where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth.

These are the days!

Keep the smile going.

God bless you!

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂
