Today begins a new era in South African history. The Zuma era is over. Almost 9 gruelling years that took the country from relative prosperity to a position of corruption at the highest level. The new president, voted in today, Cyril Ramaphosa brings a new hope that he will get rid of government corruption. He will be sworn in at 5pm today. His brief speech in parliament was a breath of fresh air. A little bit about him… his first name is actually Matamela, but he goes by his second name Cyril. He is 65 years old, born 17th November 1952. According to Wiki, he has been married twice and has four children. He has been very successful in business and has accrued much wealth. He owns a R30 million house at the base of Lion’s Head and is believed to have a net worth of more than $450 million.
This is the value of the man who is now the President of the Republic of South Africa. My prayer is that the legacy left by him will be one that brings glory to God and prosperity to the people of this country.
There is optimism in the country again. A new hope and a new future.
#569 of my 1000 thanks is for Zuma’s resignation. New beginnings!
Psalm 25:8
The Lord is good and does what is right; He shows the proper path to those who go astray.
This morning I woke up early and did some work, then I made Mike coffee and we got up and were on the road to Claremont by 7-15am. We go to Peninsula Eye Clinic just after 8am and at 8-30am Mike went in to have his third eye injection. That done, we returned to Fish Hoek and had breakfast with Julian.
I went to gym at lunchtime.
- Cycled 10km
- Walked/ran 6km
Did some stretches. Job done.
Home again in time to have a wash and then back to work for a short while. Next stop is to pick up the cot. I hope it fits in my car. Today Stacey is 6 months pregnant.
These are the days.
Keep the smile going.
God bless you.
In His Grip,
Helga xx 🙂
