A Lovely Sunny Sunday

This morning, the arrangement was for Julian and I to go to Cape Point. My Cape Town card expires in a few weeks and so I must use it up before it’s too late.  You can read more about how I got the Cape Town card here. It only cost R125. You get 12 free entries per year into various parks around Cape Town (including the Penguins, Boulders, Silvermine and Cape Point). You can use a free entry for a friend as long as they are South African. So this morning that’s what I did with my brother. It costs R135 to get into Cape Point these days but with my Green Card, we got in by having it clipped twice. Now I have one entry left and it expires on 9th Feb. It’s had good use and saved a lot of money.

We got to the restaurant at 9am and this was the view…

This was breakfast…

After a leisurely time enjoying the view, we went to the start of the Hoerikwaggo Trail which starts opposite the entrance to the restaurant on the right of the Cape Wildlife buildings.

The path passes through a gate and winds up to a series of kopjies…

There was a baboon spotter who said the baboons were on their way down. We saw none but I heard a grunt not far off.  The views are spectacular…

It took us about 45 minutes or so to get up to the second last kopje and back again. After that we drove around Cape Point a bit, making a note to come back when it’s cooler to do one of the many walks. We are so blessed to live in this diverse, picturesque city. All this beauty on our doorstep.

Then we headed home and had lunch at Barracudas in Fish Hoek.

Julian heads for the airport soon.

The end of the weekend has come. There is a lot of work waiting for me. It leaves me with lots to be thankful for.

#171 of my 1000 thanks going back to yesterday when we did holiday planning and I’m so happy that we go to book flights.

#172 of my 1000 thanks is for strong legs to walk up the mountain.

#173 of my 1000 thanks is for emails to write!

Psalm 89:11

The heavens are Yours, and Yours also the earth; You founded the world and all that is in it.

We get to enjoy it!

These are the days.

Keep the smile going.

God bless you!

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂
