A Lovely Evening…

Saturday

Today was the day…

…that was stunning June weather. It’s supposed to be winter but today was reminiscent of spring. The sun shone, the sky was blue  and the wind a gentle breeze. Mike and I went to the beach. Mike had his run and dip. I had my swim. Afterwards, I got changed and we picked up a few groceries before walking home for breakfast. I didn’t take this photo, but we did see evidence of the cause. There was a burst water main on Highway Rd and a lady called Leone was the overnight carer for an elderly lady. The volume of water resulted in her car dipping into the sinkhole. Imagine coming out after a night’s work and finding this…

It was a bit of a palaver to get it out but she eventually did and she appreciated all the community support.

At lunch time, this ship arrived just off the coast. It came from the direction of Simon’s Town, did a U-turn and dropped anchor at this spot.

Through the telescope we could see her name. She’s the Victoria Mxenge – one of the Fisheries Protective Vessels and apparently operated by the SA Navy Fleet Command. She seems to have settled in for the night as she’s still there.

We had a lovely evening with our friends John and Avril. They made the trek  up the stairs, stopping to chat with David. This is a convenient pitstop as it allows visitors to catch their breath. It’s one of things I had to get used to is people arriving at my front door completely out of breath!

Once inside, they had a look at the ship and the coastline across the bay…

Ship at sunset…

We had a lovely evening together. I love having friends round. Always good to catch up and learn new things about them.  John must write that book!

It’s been a good day.

Proverbs 16:9

The heart of a man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps.

The best is yet to come – we are only passing through.

Keep the smile going.

God bless you.

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂
