A Great Movie

There’s one thing only those closest to me know – I’m not wild about going to movies. I think it’s probably because my attention span doesn’t last 2 hours and stuck in a theatre, I can’t get up and walk around – I just have to sit, so about half way through I find myself checking the time to see how long I’ve got left! I’m not a good movie-goer.

But this last weekend, Mike & I found ourselves at Canal Walk buying the new toy (landline phone) that I wrote about yesterday. We arrived at CW, had a leisurely breakfast, checked out all the places that sold landline phones and then finally bought the one we wanted. I was in the frame of mind of having worked a lot this last week, I could do with a distraction and so was not against the idea of seeing a movie. We went to the first theatre at CW and looked up at the options. Sully looked interesting. I Googled it – got the Rotten Tomatoes review – it got 80%+ so we said let’s see what time it’s on. It was 12-03 and the adverts and previews had just started, so we bought tickets and in we went.  Mike enjoys all the previews and I don’t, so while he was watching, I read a little more about what we were about to see.

I turned to Mike and said, “we are going to enjoy this!”

It is like Air Crash Investigation on the big screen.

This is not one of those. Everyone lives happily ever after.

It’s worth seeing.

Sully

Tom Hanks plays Sully and does it very well. It keeps you on the edge of your seat to the very last scene.

You can read about Tom Hanks and his faith journey here.

Watch Rita Hanks talk about her prayer life…

It certainly can’t be easy being a Christian in Hollywood.

Two of the things I’m learning is to try not to be judgemental and to lower my expectations in regard to Christians in the media. We will never be perfect and people will disappoint.

Psalm 143:3

Do not put your trust in princes, in human beings, who cannot save.

Sully did a fabulous job landing his plane on the Hudson river – without his experience and skill all may have died. Ultimately, though, it is God who saves. He gives us the ability to continue life after death.

I can trust Him.

These are the days.

Keep the smile going.

God bless you.

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂
