Today’s main event, after the show was a trip to see Lorraine Keet. On 13th May last year, Ken & Lorraine Keet woke as usual and Ken bought Lorraine her coffee and marie biscuit, while Ken had his fruit salad. A short while later, they heard the dump truck people empty their wheelie bin, so Ken went out to bring it in. After doing that, he was attacked in the back garden by three men who brutally murdered him. They then entered the house and battered Lorraine into unconsciousness. After ransacking the house they left. Lorraine woke up several hours later and stumbled to the front door to press the panic button. The wires were damaged, so it shouldn’t have gone off at the armed response office, but it did! They arrived, called the police and ambulance. While waiting for them to arrive, Lorraine told the security guard to check on her husband because the muggers had told her they had tied him up. The security guard returned and said he had found Ken. He then said he was unable to move ‘the body’ and that was how Lorraine knew her beloved husband, of 54 years, was dead. The moment that dawned on her, her first thought was that God must have a plan in all of this. From that moment to this, she has trusted him. Lorraine was rushed to hospital and spent two days in ICU and another 9 in hospital. Concussion, some bleeding on the brain, 20 stitches in her head, she miraculously had very little pain and has fully recovered today. From that day to this, she cannot stop talking about how God has sustained her, provided for her, comforted her and strengthened her. Her church family of St. James Church, Kenilworth has surrounded her with their love and help. Her faith is BIG. It was inspirational to spend the morning with her. She has a sparkling sense of humour. Ken’s name and memory is never far from her mind and she talks of him often. I did two interviews with her and will air the first tomorrow at 8-40am. www.ccfm.org.za or if you are in CapeTown, it’s on 107.5!
The Bible verse that was given to Ken and Lorraine on their wedding day is this one:
Romans 8:28 – “All things work together for good to those who love God and are called according to His purpose.”
Throughout their life they have lived by that verse and now amidst tragic circumstances, Lorraine continues to see God’s hand in working out, even this for good.
