Thursday
Dear Elsie
Today was the day I caught up with all my work and was able to have a little afternoon break.
3 updates on the cats, David and Mike’s workshop work.
The cats have come out from under the bed. Now during the day, Raiku settles on a chair under the dining room table, helpfully covered by the tablecloth and completely out of sight.
Meanwhile, Claw’d is no longer sleeping under the bed in the study but is in his bed on top of it.
All I read online is to wait at least 2 weeks before letting them outside. Today they have been with us for a week. I’m working on getting their microchip information changed to our address so they will at least be trackable if they do roam. They seem to get a little cabin fever when they are up and about, with some serious meowing going on. They get short spurts of supervised outdoor time, but they are tending to want to go further and further away so I’m slightly nervous of just letting them go because one goes in one direction and the other goes in the other. Maybe I’ll let them out one at a time. They are happy enough. Claw’d is now on my lap as I type.
David went out again today. He went out yesterday as well but came home exhausted. It was also because he drove. Today he went out with a friend who did the driving, but it was still exhausting coming back up the stairs. With long Covid energy levels have to be managed. There’s an energy battery that runs down and you have a limited amount of power to get through what needs to be done. When that energy is finished, sleep is the recharging remedy. In 10 days time or so, he’ll go for the next blood tests and see if there are any changes. When Mike took David the very first time, the receptionist told him of a ballet dancer who came in in a wheelchair. She is now back to normal. How long did it take, Mike wanted to know? The answer: 2 years. David is not in a wheelchair so hopefully he will be better in less than 2 years, but we have to be patient. My friend, Ingrid, put this on FB a couple of days ago…
We don’t know what is going on behind the scenes but one thing we do know, God never wastes pain. Also, David could be a lot worse than he is. He can continue working from home. He can make videos & he’s pretty resilient. He’s just not better yet. He says his energy levels are slightly higher than they were. A couple of months ago, he would teach and then be so exhausted, he’d have to sleep. Now he can sometimes get through the day without an afternoon snooze. The other week he did 10 press-ups, 10 star jumps and walked around the apartment for 400m. That little bit of exercise wiped him out and he took a full 2 days to recover. He’s got to take it easy.
And an update from Mike’s workshop work. He has worked on the next lamp today and it has now been installed. It looks great, matching the one at the top.
My work day is done and I’m going to nip down to the shops for some groceries.
Psalm 138:6
Though the Lord is exalted, He looks kindly on the lowly; though lofty, He sees them from afar.
It’s not about now – we are only passing through.
Keep the smile going.
God bless you.
In His Grip,
Gran xx
