Here are a couple of photos from each month of 2012…
January 2012- family holiday – three night cruise to Durban…
February 2012 – with the help of Stacey & Adrian, I set up a surprise ‘romantic’ dinner for Mike…on Fish Hoek beach. It attracted lots of attention.l It wasn’t Valentine’s Day either….just a random selected day with not too much wind…
March 2012 – we celebrated David’s 21st birthday. What a blessing!
April 2012 – David completed the Two Oceans 21km race in 1 hour and 40 minutes…and we had good friends Graham and Jenny Priestner visit us from the UK…
May 2012 – I love May as the month Mike & I got engaged. 9th May 2012 marked 26 years since I got the rock! Gizmo the neighbour’s cat spent many hours on our bedroom balcony and a few minutes from time to time on our bed!
June 2012 – we had the first serious storm, which blew out our bedroom window…Mike fixed it and we happily remembered Adrian and Stacey’s wedding three years ago ….20th June 2009.
July 2012 – Food Lovers Market has changed the way we shop. It opened its doors in July. On 18th July, Riana and I took Granny out… Hhere I am ‘talking to Granny with my eyes.’
Ha ha! When FLM is part of the ‘highlights”, you know the month must have been a bit uneventful!! Let me find another one to define the month…
Here we go…on Friday 13th July, David and I celebrated the day by having breakfast in Camps Bay and then surprising Mike at work…
August 2012 – With a grateful heart, Mike & I celebrated our 26th wedding anniversary on 9th! On 15th, we said goodbye to Stacey and Adrian who left for a year long Asian adventure, beginning in Singapore!
Sadly, on Sunday 12th August, my brother-in-law Derek passed away. My sister Anne has had a hard year. 2013 will be better.
September 2012 – we enjoyed David performing at the Baxter and we kept up to date with Stace and Adrian on skype.
October 2012 – Granny had a bad turn and was admitted to hospital. I flew up to Joburg to surprise Julian on his 50th birthday! And he certainly was surprised!
November 2012 – Granny came home, looking a bit more bright eyed. And I turned 48! 🙂
December 2012 – Stacey turned 25 in Cambodia and David graduated. Proud parents of two amazing children! What a blessing!
And so that was 2012. As you close the door on one year & look ahead to the next, there is always some uncertainty. But we can be confident about the twelve months ahead. Lynn sent me this sms which says it so well:
“When we reminisce and wonder how we made it this far, we’ll realise that it’s not our cleverness, but His wisdom; not because we are strong, but because He is Almighty; not because we have been consistent, but because He is unswerving in His faithfulness. We go into this next year with the sure knowledge that we are in the palm of His hand and that He has planned each day already.”
Philippians 3:13-14
No, dear brothers and sisters, I am still not all I should be, but I am focusing all my energies on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I strain to reach the end of the race and receive the prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us up to heaven. (NLT)
God bless you enormously!
In His Grip,
Helga xx 🙂
