Thursday 2nd Feb 2012 – Grumbling Against Leadership

Exodus 16:8b says (Moses speaking), “You are not grumbling against us but against the Lord.”

It is tough being in leadership. Moses & Aaron had done their best in obeying God. God had done AMAZING, MIRACULOUS, MEMORABLE, UNBELIEVABLE things for them, yet the waters of the Red Sea were hardly back in place when the moaning and complaining began. First they complained about water, then they complained about food. They had already complained, by the way, BEFORE the Red Sea crossing when they saw the Egyptians advancing on them. In hindsight, we can see that they did NOT need to complain. God was in control. H was providing for them. But they could not seem to get that. And so often, we don’t either! We miss the amazing evidence of God in our lives and we complain. When you read these portions of the Bible with the Israelites moaning all the time, you want to give them a shake and say,  “Shut up will you! Look at what God has done for you!” Perhaps today, you complaining displays a huge lack of faith. It’s time for you to focus, not on what you don’t have, but on what you have. “Shut up will you! Look at what God has done for you!”
