The Amazing Influence YOU Have

2-02pm

Today, an interesting thing happened. I went to visit a friend and to get to her house, you have to go through security and fill in your name and phone number on a sheet of paper. Usually, I just scribble my name, half my phone number and a rough signature. But today, as I took the clipboard, I noticed that the person who had gone before me had written in perfectly legible neat handwriting, automatically enhancing the look of the page. Without thinking, I immediately followed suit. Carefully and deliberately I neatly wrote out all my details and signed my name. As I drove on, I suddenly realised what I had done. I had been influenced! The person who had entered before me did not follow the example of the person before them, who had rushed through the entry. He/she is probably a perfectionist and neatness comes naturally. I copied their example. That is the power of influence.

When visiting my friend, who has recently been in hospital, she mentioned how lovely the nurses were. “They were so friendly,” she exclaimed, “that it really made a difference to my stay.” The attitude of the nursing staff influenced how she felt about being in hospital, making a far more positive experience than it could have been. That is the power of influence. Well done nurses  at Chris Barnard Memorial Hospital!

CBMHWhen we were overseas last year, my brother travelled with us up to Rome, then flew back to Johannesburg via Munich. He was hoping for a good seat on the Munich-Joburg leg, but landed with the absolute worst…stuck in the middle of the middle row, with people all around! When I asked him how his flight had been and he recounted his experience, he told me that the plane was packed and he had a terrible seat, “but,” he said, “the SAA air hostesses were so friendly and patient. They really made a difference to the flight, so it wasn’t SAA planethat bad!” Amazing!  That flight could have been dreadful if the air hostesses had been moody, impatient and unhelpful. The power of influence. Well done SAA air hostesses who flew on the overnight flight back from Munich on Saturday 9th November 2013!

How you act influences others. So go off into your world with a spring in your step, a smile on your face and a great attitude. It makes a difference…

Matthew 5:16

In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.

Meanwhile, I looked up Femoral Hernia online and found this…

Femoral hernia splurbI realised this morning that is far more painful after I’ve eaten, so I moved my surgeon visit ahead to this afternoon. Straight after I’ve posted this blog, I will leave.

God bless you loads!
