1-24pm
Today we had Professor Tim Noakes in the studio for an hour. He always has something new, interesting and thought provoking to tell. Keeping up with the latest news from the scientific arena, today ‘The Bliss Point’ came up. Michael Moss describes the Bliss Point as the amount of an ingredient such as salt, sugar, or fat which optimizes palatability. If you want to read an astonishing article published in the New York Times a month ago, copy and paste this into your URL:
http://www.nytimes.com/2013/02/24/magazine/the-extraordinary-science-of-junk-food.html?pagewanted=all&_r=0
It describes the “Extraordinary Science of Addictive Junk Food”.
Every bit of processed food you eat, such as chips (Lays, Pringles etc) have been carefully modified with the perfect amount of salt, sugar or fat to be so palatable that they are addictive, regardless of how unhealthy they are. To make them healthy, the manufacturers would have to reduce the unhealthy ingredients, making the product less tasty (not hitting the ‘bliss point’), lose money, but make the world a healthier place. They were NOT prepared to do this. You owe it to yourselves and your families to read the article. Talking of reading, check the labels of ALL the food you buy! It’s an eye-opener!
Here is Professor Tim Noakes with the nuts (raw, mixed) I gave him for coming in to see us. He’s such a great guy. We look forward to having him back next month. (Good photo Wayne!)
We have his previous discussions on CCFm up on this blog. Look at the top and click on All Things LCHF and scroll down a bit. I am always inspired when Tim comes in to do better – try harder in maintaining my LCHF lifestyle. I’m still trying to work out exactly what works for me. From tomorrow, I’m going to start having eggs for breakfast (remember I eat uber early, so it’s going to be a bit of an adjustment) and then have yoghurt and berries later in the day. Currently the yoghurt and berries don’t sustain me for too long.
I met with friends at the Mall after work and bumped into Susie who use to be at CCFm. She is visiting Cape Town with her husband Dwight…Psalm 62:11-12 “One thing God has spoken, two things I have heard: that you O God are strong and that you O Lord are loving. Surely You will reward each person according to what he has done!”
Off to gym!
God bless!
In His Grip,
