Tuesday
Dear Elsie
Today was the day that Courage made a roll-over kerb. The story of the roll-over kerbs goes back at least 6 years when one of the neighbours said they would only sign our building plans if we had roll-over kerbs. It took a bit of time, but eventually they were done. This was August 2019.
They certainly made parking on the kerb easy. They stayed like that until the water pipes on the street were replaced. This was April 2024. Most of our roll-over kerbs were obliterated.
The contractors for the City shrugged their shoulders. The City had said roll-over kerbs are not legal and therefore they would not be replacing them. The neighbour was seriously displeased. If anyone parked on the road, off the kerb, they were in jeopardy of getting a stern note on their window. That happened a couple of times.
Eventually, there will be a bit of a change to our entrance and at that point we will do a proper job of the kerb, but in the meantime, Courage (broke the city law) and replaced the right side kerb.
The cement will take a day or two to dry & then it will be in use. The neighbour will approve.
We got to the beach today. We went down super early so we could be back in time to say goodbye to Julian. By 7am, I was in the water and swimming to the barrel. It was clear and warm. What a treat. I really enjoyed it. As we needed milk, we walked home via the shops.
Eight hours of work followed. I could (and may) work a bit more as I haven’t finished what needs to be done today. It’s bitter sweet – bitter because the volume of work can be overwhelming and sweet because I so appreciate the work.
Or I could call it a day and pick it all up tomorrow. Now, doesn’t that sound better? 8 hours is enough. Tomorrow is another day.
Raiku is sleeping on my desk, but it’s too early. He can’t keep his eyes open and I keep jolting him awake. He must sleep when it’s dark. I don’t want him waking me at 3.30am.
This is a good verse to remember…
Psalm 37:7
Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for Him.
Be still – wait patiently.
It’s not about now – we are only passing through.
Keep the smile going.
God bless you.
In His Grip,
Gran xx 🙂
