My Day In The Sun…

3-18pm

Granny looking at old photos

After the show this morning, I zipped off to Cape Town to see Granny. I took with me, an old photo album that Granny had labelled ‘Grandchildren.” They were photos of her first two grandsons when they were tiny. She LOVED looking at them. There was one in particular that she took her finger and traced around at least twice. It was one of the two young boys, with Monica (her daughter and the boys Mom) and she herself in frolicking around in shallow water. That one really caught her attention. After that I took her into the garden to sit in the balmy, autumn sun and admire the roses…

After I had kissed her goodbye, I went to Cafe Roux to have cappuccino with friends…

This revived me…

Then it was quickly home before going to gym. Tonight Mike & I will nip down to the Ocean Basket. Looking forward to fish and salad.

Last night we went to the CCFm AGM where Mike was honoured for 20 years of involvement at CCFm…

My beloved Mike being honoured at the CCFm AGMHe remains as humble as the day I married him. I love this man! Last night’s sunset was nothing less than spectacular…

Amazing autumn sunsetPsalm 113:3 says, “From the rising of the sun to the place where it sets, the Name of the LORD is to be praised.”

Amen!

It would not be right to let this blog pass without making reference to my darling Mother. You always regret not spending more time with someone once you can’t. We called her “Ma” – NEVER Mom or Mum. When we were little, it was Mummy. I have inherited her personality and her love of word games. She passed away in 2004 and had she lived she would have been 81 today.  I am grateful that Ma celebrates this her earthly birthday in eternity. I came to know the Lord when I was 14. Ma, at that stage was not a Christian and was 46. I prayed for her for 14 years and when she was 60 she came to faith in Christ. For the next 12 years, until she died,  she lived a joyful life, embracing  a wonderful circle of loving Christ-filled friends. Today, she rejoices in heaven with some of them!

Psalm 116: 15-16 Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of His faithful servants. Truly I am your servant, LORD; I serve You just as my mother did; You have freed me from my chains.

Praise the Lord.

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂
