Jacob Zuma Told To Go

It was an unexpected CNN headline. While South African politics come up on international media from time to time, this one was not expected to get such front page coverage. Imagine if JZ himself clicked on CNN to find out what was happening in the world and boom, there he was…

I really wonder if today IS the day that he will resign. I read that if he doesn’t resign by this evening then the ANC will have to use the constitution of South Africa to process his firing. It would probably follow that a vote of no confidence will be tabled in parliament. If passed, JZ will have to resign and with him his cabinet. Zuma has survived seven votes of no confidence, but I think he won’t get to his ninth life. He survived them all because they were tabled by opposition parties. This 8th one will be tabled by his own party, the ANC so it will most likely to be passed and he will have to go. He has 780 allegations of corruption. It’s time.

The process is made clear by an article in today’s edition of the Mail and Guardian.

That’s our political fun and games today in South Africa.

OtherĀ more relevant news….on the personal front is that today, Stacey is 27 weeks. On Thursday she will be 6 months pregnant. Today she had a doctor’s visit and baby is doing very well. She is now 980g and has remarkably long legs for her age! šŸ™‚ Precious one. David did not have long legs when he was born – he was only 49cm long in total (Stacey was longer). This was not an indicator of his adult height. When David was about 14 or 15, he was jacking around with his school friend Stuart (now our tenant who is staying in Granny’s cottage out back). What David did to torment Stu I’m not sure, but it caused Stuart to chase him and launch a kick at David’s rear. To protect himself, David put his hands behind him and they caught the brunt of Stu’s boot. He came home with his precious (guitar playing) hand swollen and sore. Off we went to have an x-ray done on his hand. As the doctor looked at the x-ray he asked us how tall David’s Dad (Mike) was as David’s hands were large and had thick cartilageĀ on either side of the knuckles indicating a lot more growth to come. He said David was going to be tall. There were no broken bones. David grew to 6 foot 1 inch. My grand-daughter may have long legs now and we will watch with interest how tall she ends up.

With Stacey being in Swellendam and there not being too many cots around there, we have found a lovely one here. If all goes well, we collect on Thursday.

#567 of my 1000 thanks is for the cot! Yay.

Isaiah 45:2

I will go before you and make the crooked places straight; I will break in pieces the gates of bronze and cut the bars of iron.

It is significant that this Bible verse should come up today. This very morning, I was praying for the generations to come. Mike and I have been blessed that God has made the rough places smooth and I was praying He will do the same for the generations to come. I was praying that very verse this morning, and I look at my diary to get the verse for the day and there it is.

God is in the detail. To Him be the glory.

These are the days.

Keep the smile going.

God bless you.

In His Grip,

Helga xx šŸ™‚
