8-57pm
I feel as if we have capitalised on every moment of today! We woke early and had coffee and I made breakfast for Granny. We were a bit tardy with our time-keeping and almost missed church. By the time I had sorted Granny it was 8-45am and I wasn’t yet dressed! So it was a mad dash to get to church as little late as possible! It was worth it. It was a moving service, with wonderful reminders of what we remember Jesus doing for us on Good Friday so many years ago. The congregation were invited to write down issues they were struggling with and nail them to a cross in the church. Then Pastor Neil, in an illustration of what Christ does with our sin, painted over them with red paint…He blots them out…covers them with His blood…they are gone!
We also had communion…Adrian & Stacey joined us for lunch. This afternoon, Mike & I got out Lark Rise to Candleford… a period drama set in small town England. We love these BBC series. Last week we started watching Cranford but that was out this week, so we started a new series.
Later in the afternoon, Julian and I went for a L-O-N-G walk around the Tokai Forest…
A lovely overcast day, level walking, beautiful scenery. It was a treat…this looks a bit like snow…but it is sand…
We took a detour and walked through the suburb, past this house with a very French looking balcony. It has a table and two chairs, ready for breakfast overlooking the street…
We walked briskly for an hour! This is the home stretch…
We got home around 6pm. Mike & I then watched the next two episodes of Lark Rise. Now we are eating popcorn and watching the US Masters. Tomorrow David does the 21km Two Oceans, so I’ll be up early to give him a decent breakfast.
It’s been a meaningful day.
Romans 6:8-11says “Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with Him. For we know that since Christ was raised from the dead, He cannot die again; death no longer has mastery over Him. The death He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life He lives, He lives to God. In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus.”
And THAT is why it’s GOOD Friday. It’s GOOD news.
God bless you richly!
IN His Grip,
Helga xx 🙂
