3-34pm
Today began well…Granny got herself up! I washed her linen and made her breakfast. Then René came to cut and blow dry her hair…she was happy… Not long after that, we left to see the penguins at Boulders Beach…
Boulders Beach looked deliciously inviting!
There are lots of boardwalks, so a bench is always a welcome sight…
This was one of the first penguins we came across, all by himself, coming to check out the tourists…!
No touching…
Love penguins…
These ones were wise…staying under trees and bushes away from predators…
I took a casual photo of the penguins all sitting on the beach. Then I saw a seagull and thought it would be an interesting photo to take a picture of the seagull with the penguins…
Jess, my niece, also took a casual photo…but look at what was happening…
The penguins looked restless and noisy… I was looking through my cell camera lens and the sun was very bright, so I didn’t see what I had captured. As I took the photo, people all around me let out gasps of horror! I took my sunglasses off to look at the photo I had taken…
I caught the nasty little thief with his loot! Poor penguins. No wonder they were distressed! I was saddened! The words of Christ come to mind:
John 10:10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.
It is hard to find abundant life amidst tragedy. As we walked around the penguin colony and watched them interacting, I was reminded there will be more eggs. There will be more penguins. Happier days will come. I often think of the Cyprianos family who tragically lost their younger son in a car accident several years ago. They were devastated. But God has a way of making up the years the locust has eaten. They now have 4 grandsons! There is much life in their lives. They will never forget Adam, but the intense despair of those dark days has lessened. God has made up the years. He has given them abundant life.
If you are going through tough times…deep despair…unexpected loss… God is with you…better days are ahead. Don’t stop trusting God. Keep going, one day at a time.
You are in His Grip.
God bless you.
