Earning $$$ Online

When Adrian & Stacey went on their travels they took with them some serious laptop computing power,  clothes, some money and not much else. Travelling the world with no employer seems to be set for financial difficulty. Many years ago, that would have been the case, but with the advent of the world wide web, “working from home” takes on a whole new meaning. After A&S started making their living very successfully online, I looked up the website they were using and I registered as well, more out of curiosity  than anything else. www.odesk.com is the website. I worked a bit on my profile and then lost interest. Some months later, I completed the profile and started applying for jobs. I very quickly found a couple of writing jobs and racked up a couple of hundred $. It was a good start.

How it works is like this: you sign up and post your profile including all your skills and areas of expertise.  Try and get your profile 100% complete. I put the skills I’m best at and  like to do the most. There are 1000s of jobs available and you will find something you can do. People & companies from across the world and who need your skills post job offers. You apply and bid for the job, with a whole lot of other people. The employer selects someone and that person may be you. It may be, as in my case, a short term project, where a couple of bucks is paid. It may be a long term relationship where you start working full time (from home)  for someone in the US or UK or Australia.

My interest in ODesk suddenly rose just recently when I realised I could do with some $$ in my account to use when we are on holiday in a month and a half’s time. I had just under $300 sitting in my account on ODesk and had to get it out. One option to release payment is to order a Payoneer Debit Card. This is what I did. It is on its way to me and when I get it, I will have the ODesk money deposited into it.  Then when I’m overseas, I can buy stuff from the money on the card.  With it being 6 weeks before we leave on holiday, I suddenly had some urgency in trying to get a few more $, so every day for the last few days I’ve been applying for jobs. I’ve probably applied for a dozen and NO one was picking me! Welcome to the real world! Then last night, I prayed and said, “Lord I really want to try and get some ODesk work”. I applied for another couple of jobs and voila! I got a positive response! So today I wrote an article that earned me $40! (I’ll put the link up to it when it comes).

I googled Odesk reviews and found christene-marketing.com has done a review on a number of online money making websites. She has assessed Odesk on a number of criteria and it has done pretty well! Christene uses www.mywot.com which tells you which websites to trust. This is their analysis of ODesk:

Naturally on any employment platform, there are going to be crooks! So if you do go onto ODesk, look carefully at the company who is offering the job. See what their record is and if they have paid out a lot of money on ODesk employment. If they have, you could imagine they will be pretty safe. I would avoid those companies that haven’t got good feedback.  If you would like to try and earn online, ODesk is a stable way to go.

Whatever happens, don’t rush, stay calm! Sometimes I get really mad at myself. I can see what I should be doing – actually, it is how I know God wants me to respond in certain situations – but instead of staying calm, I get all stressed out & start thinking irrationally. You can imagine that is not what God has planned for me (or you!) Today, He highlighted how He wants me to respond by presenting me with gift-wrapped clear instructions as to how to proceed:

Isaiah 30:15 ” In repentance & rest is your salvation, in quietness & trust is your strength.”

Today I am reminded to keep myself pure before Him…to search my mind and heart for sin and seek His forgiveness. Then rest in Him…be quiet before Him (& rather keep quiet before others as well) & just trust the One who holds it all in His hands. The outcome of this is fabulous. It is found a few verses later –

Isaiah 30:18 “The Lord LONGS to be gracious to you; He RISES to show you compassion. For the Lord is a God of justice. Blessed are all who wait for Him.”
