Sunday
Dear Elsie
Today was a super sunny day in Cape Town. The wind has dropped and for the next few days we are expecting some lovely wind-free days.
We walked to & from church and then spent an easy day at home. We sat enjoying an afternoon coffee…
I did a little work in the afternoon – this will take the pressure off tomorrow morning when I want to go to the beach for a morning swim. Tomorrow will be a busy day. We have a sand and cement deliver, extra workers coming and a guest arriving as well.
Today I saw this amazingly old photo of Fish Hoek beach.
I’m not sure where it is from, but I have got this one…which my label says was from Norman.
It is stunning for me to think that I have been in Cape Town for 40 years! When I started coming to Fish Hoek around about that time, I heard that you needed to be careful at the Clovelly end of Fish Hoek beach – there used to be a Quicksand sign. Since we’ve lived here I haven’t heard of any quicksand stories, but a cursory search online revealed this – twas dated around about 1800…
This excerpt comes from a publication by the City of Cape Town called Stories of the South Peninsula. You can download it here.
It’s time for me to wrap up.
Psalm 8:1
Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your Name in all the earth! You have set your glory in the heavens.
The best is yet to come – we are only passing through.
Keep the smile going.
God bless you.
In His Grip,
Gran xx 🙂
