Blooming Flowers

Tuesday

Dear Elsie

Today we went to see the famous flowers. I don’t think there are pictures that can capture the abundance of flowers that blossom across acres and acres of the West Coast National Park. They are prolific and beautiful but to get there is a mission! That’s the short story. We left home at about 7am and drove to Darling, where we had breakfast. That was a surprise because we got there before anything opened. While driving around, we found a wine farm with a beautiful farmhouse.

They were open for breakfast. As it hadn’t quite warmed up, we opted for inside & ended up having breakfast in the wine cellar

It was an unexpected treat.

Onward we went until we got to the start of our final destination. It was the West Coast National Park. It’s 21km from the R27 gate to the Postberg entrance which is where most of the flowers are. This week entry is free. Yay! But there was a price to pay after all : E-V-E-R-Y-O-N-E knew this week was free and there were hundreds of visitors. We stopped and went for a 3km walk. Photos can’t do justice to the beauty of the landscape and flowers. There are acres and acres of them.

We then went to where there is a food stall and picnic spot. We followed a path to some rocks.

The rocks were huge and we went up a couple of different ones.

They both had spectacular views over Langebaan lagoon.

That was quite a highlight. After some refreshments, we returned the way we came.

If you don’t want to travel quite so far, there are loads of flowers along the R27. On the way home we were noticing all the flowers. The closest, most amazing display was at the entrance to Grassy Park on the M5!

They looked amazing!

We saw the abundant, expansive, joyous flowers and appreciated the day!

Matthew 6:28-30
“And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith?

It’s not about now – we are only passing through.

Keep the smile going.

God bless you.

In His Grip,

Gran xx 🙂
