Airbnb Reviews

Thursday

Dear Elsie

Today was the day Grandpa went walking with me and we ended up going further than I went previous days. We even did a bit of bush-bashing. It was a 6km ramble. After getting home and having breakfast, I worked for the day. I had a lot of meetings & finally wrapped up at 5pm. A good day’s work.

One of the things that happened today was the guests in the Seaview apartment left a day early. I’m a little nervous that we may get our first less than 5* review. They inquired a couple of months ago, asking specifically about how hard the stairs are. The guest mentioned that he was afraid of falling.  I told him they were hard work. I even said we may not be the place for him! He still booked.  I was super sensitive when he arrived, knowing that the stairs would be difficult. It wasn’t him who struggled, but his wife. Fortunately, they didn’t need to carry any luggage. I carried one suitcase and Courage carried the rest. The guest messaged this morning to say their plans had changed. They have to leave early tomorrow (too early for Courage to help with luggage). Tonight they are having dinner in Cape Town with family. Instead of coming back late tonight, they decided to leave this afternoon and booked a cheap hotel in the city. This meant Courage could take down their luggage today. That sounds perfectly reasonable. They did say they enjoyed themselves but they didn’t go out as much as they may have because of the stairs! Eek. This could result in a 4* with a comment on the difficulty of the stairs. At the moment we have 82 reviews for the Seaview Apartment, all 5 stars. We wait to see!

I don’t know if he will even give us a review. We’ll know in the next few days.  Julian reminds me from time to time that a 4* may happen! I’m bracing myself. The more 5* you get, the less the impact of one less, but I work hard to keep the rating up.

Anyway, onwards and upwards. Tomorrow night, late, the next guest arrives. She’s only due to spend the weekend here, but we’ll see if she decides to stay longer. She is travelling alone, so safety is her (and our) top priority. She’s travel-savvy & hiring a car. If she does leave on Sunday, the whole place will empty out as the guests in the other units are also leaving on Sunday. Next guest is a regular, Gareth who comes Wednesday. David is gearing up for taking over while we are away!

Psalm 75:1
We give thanks to You, O God, we give thanks, for Your Name is near.

It’s not about now – we are only passing through.

Keep the smile going.

God bless you.
