The Noah Film…

Oh, oh, sometimes I say things on air that I wish I could cut and paste back into my mouth! And that applies to the recently released “Noah” movie. Having not seen the movie, I only had feedback from friends to go by. People were shouting through the social media “Don’t go and see it!” So, that’s what I said on air! But not everyone agreed! And I got calls saying, “Helga it’s a really great movie for sparking conversation. People should see it and take their unchurched friends!” So that’s what I said on air! So then I got a call saying, “NO!! People will be confused – deurmekaar they said!”

Listening quietly to this crazy dialogue unfolding on the airwaves was Will, who sat down and wrote to me. And what he said was the most balanced view out…

Hi Helga

I went to see the Noah movie last Saturday and I really enjoyed it! I
didn’t think it was disrespectful to the Genesis text – it was quite
obviously a fantasy interpretation and the below articles I think indicate that Christians do not need to avoid it completely. If you do avoid it you will miss an opportunity to engage society in an informed manner.

Focus on the family also apparently gave it a neutral review as shown on

So that should give you more perspective of the movie. I think I had better go and see it! For the Biblical account of Noah, flip to the first book of the Bible and read Genesis 5:32-10:1.

Surgeon update – it’s an inguinal hernia…surgery Tuesday afternoon. In and out, no sleep over! Yay! But I will be off for the rest of the week and then after Easter, I’m taking leave as well, so I’ll have plenty of time to rest!
