Winding Down – Heading for Home

This time tomorrow, all being well, I will probably be home, tucked up in bed in my jimmy jamas! (That is a phrase my Mom used to use!). Tonight, we are somewhere in the Indian Ocean opposite the iSimangaliso Wetlands. We are going full steam ahead and due to arrive in Durban at 5-30am.

So far, so good as far as the early disembarkation plan is concerned. I made contact with a taxi service in Durban and now have Sizwe on Whatsapp. When we arrive, I will drop him a message and he will make sure a driver is there to pick us up and take us to the airport.  It’s beginning to look more likely that Julian will not miss his flight at 8-45am.

Today we hung out a bit this morning and lingered over breakfast and coffee. The rest of the morning was spent relaxing in our room. After lunch, Mike read and I hit the gym. Then at 5pm Julian and I went walking. We walked along the LONG outside deck on level 7. It goes all the way round the front of the ship and down the other side. Then we had to turn around and walk all the way back again. It’s not possible to walk all the way  round the entire ship but you get three-quarters of the way round the outside. Next time, we must see if we can cross the ship on the inside to  make up the final quarter. This is the long deck that is beneath all the life boats.

It joins another passage with portholes on the seaward side…

At the end, the passage goes right across the front of the ship….

At the end of this passage you come out on the deck on the other side of the ship. The sea view…

It’s a good way to exercise, walking up and down on this deck!

This evening we were joined again by Indra and she kept us company with stories of her travels. She is well-travelled. She was in Thailand when the Tsunami hit in December 2004. In fact, the plane she was travelling in came into land in Phuket when the pilot saw the wave wash through the airport. He abandoned the landing and returned to Bangkok.  They ended up back in Phuket and in a holiday resort away from the disaster.  Julian may see Indra again, seeing as she works very close to where he has one of his outlets.

So the end of our cruise has come. We will wait and see when the next one will be!

All glory and power to Him forever and ever.

These are the days!

Keep the smile going.

God bless you.
