When We Have Prof Tim Noakes in the Studio…

12-10pm

Usually what happens when we have Prof Tim Noakes in the studio there is a high volume of traffic that comes to this site in search of the guidelines for eating Low Carb.

More and more research is being done on Low Carb, High Fat eating. In my short journey of eating this way, I have come to realise that everyone is different and some things work better for some people while not working well for others.  For me, weight loss is hard to come by. I would like to shed about 5kg. I have lost inches though, which is amazing. When you first start, you notice immediately your body begins to change shape.

Best thing to do is to google Low Carb, High Fat, read what others are doing and saying and find out what works for you. When it comes to how much fat and what kind of fat, you may need to experiment with that as well. You are going to do no harm cutting out all sugar and overt carbs.  You get all the carbs you need without eating bread, pasta, rice and potatoes.  Salads & veggies & nuts all contain some carbs, as does dairy products. Go to a website such as myfitnesspal.com and count the grammes of carbs you are eating to get an idea as to how much you are consuming. The amount of carbs you consume depends on a number of factors. Your level of activity as well as whether you are diabetic or prediabetic or carbohydrate intolerant. You may need to start strict and cut back to as little at 25g to 50g of carbs but if, in doing so you find yourself lacking energy, increasing them as you need to. croissant

After I left the office, I did what I haven’t done for months, I went and had a croissant. This little baby has 21g of carbs.

For a treat, you may want to try making this delicious little gem…20130806_122809

Gently melt (over a pot of boiling water) the following:

1 x 100g slab of 85% Lindt chocolate, 2 heaped tablespoons of coconut oil, 3 tablespoons of honey.

Stir is shredded coconut until it has reached a thickish consistency. Scoop teaspoons onto greaseproof paper. Refrigerate, if they last longer than 5 minutes. Tip: Hide from husband & children! Makes about 35 truffles.

One is enough!

From one great little nugget to another:

Psalm 28:7 “The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in Him and I am helped.”

God bless you loads!

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂
