Till Watching

I don’t like to be a till watcher, but sometimes I just can’t help it. I’m the type of person that gets into a queue at the shopping till and then looks to see if the one next to me (which I should have got into, but didn’t) is going faster.

Today I was feeling grumpy and then picked a queue which ended up going slower than the one I should have got into. The guy who took my place in the alternate line looked at me with some curiosity as to why I hadn’t taken that one. I ignored him and hoped my queue would go faster! It didn’t. I could see him getting closer to the only person ahead of him – the lady putting her groceries through. The lady in front of me hadn’t even started putting her shop through yet. I squirmed. “It’s only a queue,” I told myself. “I’m not in a rush.” But still I moved a little over, looking at the till on the other side. Maybe I should swap to that one. Then I suddenly saw the lady in front of me having a conversation with the till operator. The till lady said the customer had to go to customer service. The customer walked away leaving her stuff to one side. I took her place. Zip zip – shop done. I scooted out of the shop, looking out the corner of my eye at the other till. Nope, the lady wasn’t quite finished.  I just about danced to my car! Win!!

So small-minded but #745 of my 1000 thanks is *for once* my tortoise of a till beat the hare! I wasn’t even in a hurry, but it was a gift. I thanked the Lord for this little thing that cheered me up. I am not forgotten!

I think I was grumpy because I wanted to go to gym to swim, but ended up checking work email.

I kid you not.

I spent more than an hour clearing that one. Tomorrow there will probably be another couple of hundred. I’ll go in tonight and clear them out. My own inbox has 17 with each one representing far more time than just a few seconds. They need to be dealt with. That’s tomorrow.

Another more valid reason to be irritated is that David’s cell phone and wallet were stolen from church today.

#746 of my 1000 thanks is that his laptop wasn’t taken. It was there too. It was a useless cell phone, so look for the blessing – he’s going to get a nice replacement.

On a lighter note, today is 5th August – 3 months today is my birthday. Born in ’64, turning 54! Love it! I don’t know why I’m so excited about being 54, but I am. It’s going to be a great year.

I am ready for the week ahead. This Thursday marks Mike & my 32nd wedding anniversary. I don’t know how to get my head around that, but we are so blessed.  It is also the first anniversary of the first burglary of the five we suffered last year. So blessed. They were 9th & 13th August and 1st, 10th & 17th September, so I’ll be ticking them off one by one!

Daniel 3:17

If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to save us.

And He did.

These are the days.

Keep the smile going.

God bless you.

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂
