The Wind is Good for This….

The Cape Doctor has been in town these last few days.  Thanks Wiki

We hope for some of that black South Easter rain. It’s not been a black South Easter this week however.

The wind is good for this….

I did two loads today. We are only washing a couple of times a month, so today we caught up.  It got dry very quickly in the wind.

The other significant thing about today is that I ran 5km! Full disclosure: I stopped for about 30  seconds to have some water and in that 30 seconds, the treadmill continued running! Apart from that 30 seconds, I ran the whole 5km. It took me just under 36 minutes. I was very happy with that. I usually stop at 20 minutes and walk for a bit and then walk/run to end, so today’s run shows improvement. I have noticed that Mondays are better days for running. I benefit from Sunday’s rest. This week is the 6th week that I have done 6 hours a week. I’ve almost reached my first goal, but I’ve decided to extend it to 12 weeks. That had something to do with the treadmill fitness test I did the other day. It goes by your age, gender and weight. Once I had punched in those details, it told me my maximum heart rate that I shouldn’t exercise beyond is 145 bpm. Pfft! When I’m running, I let it go up to 170bpm and when I see it up there, I slow down. In doing the fitness test, my heart rate got up to 145 bpm only at level 2 (out of 11), so it abruptly stopped and declared I had “very poor fitness” for my age.

There’s only one thing to do.

Hence the new 12 week goal. 6 days a week for 12 weeks. I am almost half way through. I’m feeling fitter, but have only lost about 1kg.

Mike is back at work. He was called into see the company for whom he writes software and they have asked for the next phase to be rolled out. This is very good for him.

#504 of my 1000 thanks is that Mike’s meeting went well. He is happy! If he’s happy, I’m happy!

This afternoon we were in the lounge when we heard a noise. There is a rule. If you hear a noise, investigate! We looked all around the house and could find no disturbances. Perhaps it was just the wind. After dinner, we decided to go for a walk behind our property to see if there were any signs of life or movement behind the wall. To our surprise we discovered the road works people had erected a fence blocking the ‘getaway’ path the crooks had used. You can get around it, but it’s far more difficult. We are happy with this!

You can see how dry it is. Anyway, we found nothing suspicious behind our house. We are feeling more secure. With it being Christmas, there seems to be a greater level of theft. Be vigilant.

I’m cruising towards the end of the Bible, including the Old Testament. I was so glad I made Mike tea this morning…

Amos 4:1

Hear this word, you cows of Bashan on Mount Samaria, you women who oppress the poor and crush the needy and say to your husbands, “Bring us some drinks!”

Mike wants to memorize this verse!

These are the days.

Keep the smile going.

God bless you.

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂
