The Day in Numbers

I woke up this morning at 4am. I worked from 5am to 7am and then had a break. At 7-30, I started cleaning the house and finished that at 9-30. I went back to work around 10am and worked through until about 2pm.

Then I shopped.

I did another few hours until 6-30am, when I sat down and with millions of others across South Africa, I watched the results of the secret vote of no confidence against the President of South Africa, Jacob Zuma.

Total votes – 384

  • Yes – 177
  • No –  198
  • Abstentions – 9

I’m told 30 ANC members votes No.

It was very close but Jacob Zuma lives to rule another day.

No Zexit yet.

So that’s the day. Eight hours of work all in all.

Mike has flu’. I feel so sorry for him. His cough however, seems to be a bit better, but he has very little energy and feels pretty miserable.

This too shall pass.

Let’s hope I don’t get it!

Tomorrow is our 31st wedding anniversary. It seems surreal that I am old enough to be married for that length of time. How did that happen? It’s gone by in a flash. I would do it again in a flash as well. I have a good good man.

Tomorrow, I’ll write 31 things about Mike.

This was us in San Gimignano, Italy in November 2013. It probably was on my 49th birthday.

Italy again beckons. This time we are doing the Amalfi Coast and Pompeii for four days, Bologna for two and Venice for two. After that, Julian flies home and Mike and I climb on the ship and spend 23 nights getting home. I remember when we did the cruise in 2013, I prayed and asked the Lord if He could please string together 22 days of good weather so we didn’t suffer any massive storms!  The sea was quite rough off the coast of Africa, but by then we had our sea legs and I didn’t feel it. There were no storms. Sometimes there are storms in life and the Lord allows us to go through them. He is with us in the storm. He knows what is ahead and He watches over us.

Draw strength from Psalm 107:28-30

Then they cried to the LORD in their trouble, And He brought them out of their distresses. He caused the storm to be still, So that the waves of the sea were hushed.  Then they were glad because they were quiet, So He guided them to their desired haven.

I will praise the Lord all my life; I will sing praise to my God as long as I live (Psalm 146:2)

#382 of my 1000 thanks is for Riana who will be standing in for me when I’m away!

These are the days!

Keep the smile going.

God bless you!

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂
