Steak Night

Wednesday

Today was the day…

We had dinner at Sav Cafe at Harbour Bay where every Wednesday is Steak Night. Steaks are half price!

We have got it down. We arrive. The waiter arrives and literally asks if we are having the usual – cola tonic and Sprite zero for Julian and I. With alcohol allowed to be served, Mike had a glass of white wine. David is not with us this evening. We order our steaks. The waiter knows Julian has rare, I have medium and Mike medium well done. Almost at the end of the meal, Julian asks for the bill. The waiter has prepared for this and produces it from his pocket! Yes, they know us at Sav!  It’s a good deal.

Mike and I didn’t swim this morning. We thought it would be raining, but it wasn’t. It would have been a good swimming day but we woke late and I had a work call right after 8am. I dealt with that and then we walked to Fish Hoek for milk. Home by 10am in time for breakfast.

I worked the rest of the day.

Julian and I walked to Sav. Mike drove so we had a ride home.

It was with great sadness today that I heard of the passing of a friend’s husband. Monique was part of our ladies group some years ago and I knew Gavin through Living Hope. He got Covid a couple of weeks ago. His oxygen levels dropped and he was admitted to hospital. On Sunday night he was moved to ICU and he passed away this morning. So unexpected and such devastating news. He will be hugely missed.

It is a cruel disease and a reminder to get vaccinated. The manufacturers of the Covid vaccine are standing on the shoulders of the makers of all the vaccines that have gone before. I am so grateful that Mike, Julian and I have had our shots. As much as we need to take all the usual precautions, we are glad to have had the jab.

2 Corinthians 13:14

May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.

The best is yet to come – we are only passing through.

God bless you.

In His Grip,

Helga xx
