Something (More) To Be Grateful For

#675 of my 1000 thanks is that Mike doesn’t need another eye injection!  The last time he saw the ophthalmic surgeon was two months ago today – 29th March. As the receptionist made today’s appointment for us, I thought to myself “by then we will be grandparents!” Indeed, two months flew by and here we are bathing in the warmth of having an addition to our family.

Mike’s appointment was at 2-30pm. We got there about 15 minutes early. Mike had his scan done and very quickly we went in to see Dr. Lapere.

He looked at the scan and was thrilled. Mike’s vision has been fine. If I hadn’t made a note of today’s appointment, we would have missed it! He said Mike now only needs to go back in two months time.  Dr. Lapere gave him a home eye test to do when he remembers and if he sees any visual changes, we must just contact the rooms and make an appointment.

Mike and I were ecstatic! No eye inject next week. No matter how little it is or how quick it is, it is not pleasant.

So grateful!

So this morning, I fell back into my usual routine. It’s rubbish day, early gym day and I had an appointment as well. This afternoon, after the doc, we did some shopping and came home for an early dinner.

Truffles has been very (unusually) happy to have us home. The first thing I noticed when we arrived home is her thicker fur coat. The first night we were home (Sunday night), she dashed into my cupboard, snuggled up among my hanging clothes and slept the entire night there. Last night, she jumped up into Mike’s cupboard amidst his t-shirts and curled up into a ball and slept the night immersed in his scent.  She did have access to the house while we were away and I noticed cat dents where she had slept on our bed. I was so glad about that. “Van Nie Kat” is getting sentimental in her old age!

I got another thing done today, which I was so pleased about. I phoned Chubb. The cottage at Echo had an attempted break-in. They were not successful, but we don’t want it to happen again. There are three sensors around the property. When the beam is broken on two of them, a siren goes off. It is so loud, it sounds as if the entire police force is heading up the road. The beam of the third is not working and it was next to that one that the baddies walked. Chubb will have that one operational in no time.  Talking of crime, I got a message from the Sun Valley Neighbourhood Watch to say that the guy that broke into our house (with the Vans shoe print) is behind bars. He pleaded guilty to another intrusion so should be locked up for a while.

Colossians 1:17

He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together.

These are the days.

Keep the smile going.

God bless you.

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂
