Roadtrippin’

Friday

New Month. Welcome to November! Today we left Cape Town at 10am and took a slow meandering drive to Swellendam. We took our time, stopped twice and arrived at 1-30pm. David drove half the way and I drove the other. Mike took it easy, working on his laptop for half the trip and keeping me company in the front for the second half. There is one stop -and-go between Caledon and Riviersonderend but the rest of the road is perfect.

It was wonderful to see the family. I have run out of adjectives to describe Elsie’s cuteness. This little person is adorable, quick and smart. She picks up words quickly. I bought her one of Granny Eve’s baskets. I gave it to her and later said, ‘where’s your basket?’ and she knew immediately what I was talking about. She said “Da-vid” and “Gran -ny!”

We all went for a walk….

Immaculate streets…

With matching gardens…

And roadside roses…

Varying architecture…traditional Cape Dutch thatch…

To something that looks like New Orleans…

Beautiful Swellendam on a windless spring day.

This evening Stacey cooked a delicious meal. The sunset was nothing less than spectacular…

And the colours didn’t stop there…

Until they were spectacular red…

We returned to our cottage where Mike and David set about playing pool. Mike has not played pool for YEARS. David played a week ago! The first 4 games went to….David! But Mike is determined to dig deep and get a win under his belt. Game 5 underway…

I concede that Mike is a whole lot better than I!

1 Peter 2:9

You are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.

These are the days!

Keep the smile going.

God bless you.

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂

Gym:

I did the Grid. 5. Days. In. A. Row! I tried to achieve this goal months ago but just couldn’t do it. This week I was challenged each day but came away feeling exhilarated and not entirely wiped out. It just indicates I’ve got fitter and all the running, cycling, swimming and weight training have increased my fitness.

I also walked 32 minutes.
