Prof Tim Noakes Talking About A High Protein Diet

1-59pm

It’s all very complicated…not only are we looking at cutting carbs right back to as little as about 10% of what we are used to, but we are looking at increasing protein intake. And it’s best that the animal protein and fat we eat is the pasture fed or free range protein. Not only are we looking at good cholesterol and bad cholesterol, but we also need to look at the size of the HDL and LDL.

The conversation on air this morning with Professor Tim Noakes was enlightening and not a little daunting, especially for someone who is new to the message. He did not mince his words – “boxed cereal is the worst – burn it!”

To simplify, you are carbohydrate intolerant if you have any family history of diabetes, if you are obese  and if you have any ‘belly fat’ – a convex stomach (above your belly button). Your first step is  to cut OUT SUGAR COMPLETELY. Also cut back  carbs to about 30g per day (equivalent to 1 slice of wholewheat bread). Replace those carbs with protein. For ideas of protein foods, head on off to : www.dukandiet.co.uk. I also found this useful website for ideas of entire meal plans which are high in protein… http://www.lifestyle.com.au/health/daniela-meal-plan.aspx

If you do nothing else, cut out sugar, decrease carbs. I do believe in balance, but if you are pre-diabetic and obese, you need to take drastic steps. Cutting out all sugar and cutting carbs back to 30g is drastic. Those two steps will improve your health.

On the home front, the van Niekerks are on the mend. Mike went to the doctor yesterday and was told that he had a throat infection and he needed an antibiotic. My temperature went up to 38°C yesterday, but I discovered, Medlemon works like a bomb, although be aware that it is loaded with caffeine and sugar. I dosed myself up for this morning’s show and came home right after 9am and have enjoyed a relaxing morning, reading, sleeping and doing some computer work.

I’ve been reading through Jeremiah and this morning read chapter 31:3 “The Lord appeared to us in the past saying, ‘I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with loving kindness.'”

Everlasting love. God’s love for us will never end. Throughout the course of time, the faithfulness and obedience of the Israelites ebbed and flowed. In full submission and obedience, they flourished and prospered in every way. There may have been a degree of prosperity during their years of disobedience, when they built altars to other gods. They were provided for, in spite of their sin but their relationship with God did not prosper. Our life here on earth is not about what we wear, the kind of car we drive or the house we live in. What this entire life is about is our relationship with God – who draws us with loving kindness and loves us with an everlasting love. The house is going to fall apart, unless we continually keep up with maintenance. The car is going to rust far sooner than we would like. Our clothes wear out and go out of fashion. But God’s love for us is everlasting. It will never wane. It will never wear out. It will never end. Our relationship with Him in one way or another is also everlasting. There will never be a time or a place in the course of all history, in the course of all our lives, before we existed, while we walk the earth and in the life to come that we don’t have some form of relationship with God. The closer, the better.

God bless you extravagantly!

In His Grip,

Helga x 🙂
