Probably The Strangest Thing I’ve Ever Seen!

1-42pm

I think I could describe my experience yesterday as absolutely surreal. It was weird in the extreme, seeing what I saw in the Mariner’s Wharf car park.

It all began on a lovely sunny Monday, when I met with my friend Lynda (who I know from nursing 30 years ago!). She now lives in the US and is here on holiday, so this week I get to spend a couple of days with her! Yeah! We went to Mariner’s Wharf for lunch…it’s beautiful there…

From Mariners wharfThere is a dress code at Mariner’s Wharf….who knows what would happen if you took away the NOs…

Take away the no and who knows what will happenLOL! But that’s not my story. Lynda and I had a wonderful lunch…

Lynda and HelgaMy story is actually what happened after we left the restaurant and returned to the car park. I didn’t take any photos. If only I had a video running – that would have worked to show you the bizarre-ness of my experience.

The car park next to Mariner’s Wharf is large and in front of the sea. A lot of cars park in front of the sea. And, a lot of cars park on the other side of the car park in front of the road. When those are both full, a number of cars create a line down the middle of the car park. We were meandering back to my car. A few people were in the car park. Some arriving. Some leaving. As we approached my car, I saw a car reversing. To my astonishment, I noticed there was no driver. The car was empty, yet it was reversing in a perfect arc, as you would when you reverse out of parking spot. As it moved, the angle of the light changed and I couldn’t see through the driver’s window. “Ah, ” I thought, “perhaps this is a very short person.” The car stopped and then very slowly started moving forward. I stood and watched. It was bizarre to the extreme. Surreal, in fact. This car had just reversed and was now moving forward and on closer inspection, it was absolutely empty! There was no driver, no passengers. The car was empty and yet it had reversed and was now moving forward. All this happened in what seemed like slow motion and yet it was over in a few moments. The car moved slowly forward, did not take the bend  to exit the car park, continued straight and very gently bumped into a car 2 cars away from mine! As it did that, a lady came from the other side of where it had stopped and said, “Did you see that?” “I did!” I exclaimed, “How weird was that?” “I know,” she replied, “I thought maybe it was a left hand drive and then I saw there was no on in it!” I asked where  it had been parked. She said in the line down the middle. The man with her looked inside the car and saw the handbrake was off. We surmised that with a gust of wind, the car started rolling back. Perhaps the steering wheel had been at an angle, allowing it to ‘reverse’ in an arc. Then, just as if it was controlled remotely, it straightened up and gently rolled toward the sea side of the car park, stopping only when it hit a parked car.

It was the STRANGEST thing….seeing this car ‘driving’ itself. I’ll never forget the feeling of that sight. It was like I was suspended in a moment of time, and my eyes were playing tricks on me.

It is strange for 2014, but it maybe a common sight in the future….if Google has its way

Such a cute car….made me think of Noddy!

And so that is my weirdo car story from yesterday! Probably the strangest thing I’ve ever seen!

I am sure that if I could ask the Old Testament prophet Ezekiel what the strangest thing is he every saw, he’d refer to his account in Ezekiel 37. God showed Ezekiel a graveyard – a vast number of human bones, old and dried out. Verse 3:

He asked me, “Son of man, can these bones live?” I said, “Sovereign Lord, you alone know.”

God asked the question to find out how Ezekiel would reply. His answer was as filled with faith as it could be at the time. In hindsight the answer should have been, “Absolutely Lord, with You ALL things are possible!”

God will be faithful to His promises. Be excessive in your confidence in Him!

God bless you extravagantly!

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂
