Post Surgery Day 5

Sunday

Today was the day…

I woke up at about 1am. I had taken pain pills at 6pm and by 1am had a bit of pain, so with Mike asleep, I finely mashed a banana and slurped it down with two Genpayne. These are not my prescribed pills. I watched a bit of TV (Location location location) and then went back to bed. Waking up at 6am, I made Mike Father’s Day Coffee and arranged my medication including my probiotic and antibiotic. Those taken, I had some smoothie and took the two big pills for breakthrough pain.  I soon went back to sleep. I spent most of the day in bed. I had panados at 12 noon and haven’t had anything since. The pain is now beginning to bite. It’s quite weird because it’s only my chin and lower mouth that’s sore – small area but it’s quite intense! Mike’s just bought me ice packs to put on it. So soothing.

Over-all, I am feeling sooooo much better, but the bruising is quite psychedelic…

David came and spent some time with Mike. They went to Echo to see what the house looked like from the plot behind. The owner of that land messaged to say he had been contacted by a neighbour to tell him to check it out. The building regulations say we must be no higher than 10m and we are 9.7m. From the back of his plot, the house looks like this…it’s as high as it’s going to be now…Mike’s knee is an added bonus!😅

After a lovely lunch (I had biltong soup, mashed potato and ice cream) and a rest, Mike and I took a drive. We went to Fish Hoek where the beach was looking beautiful…

We walked to the end of the cat walk and up the Sunny Cove bridge to take a photo of the new build rising from the mountain.

This week will be a busy week for Mike. He and Courage need to get on with the electrics for the next floor.  Meantime, I will go back to work on Wednesday so still have a chance to  rest. I was quite tired on my return from the walk. Tuesday afternoon, I need to see the surgeon and doctor who did the implant. They say the swelling comes down 50% at end of week 1 and 80% by end of week 2. After that, it’s back to the orthodontist who puts back all the bits he took out and then spends the next 6 months making the final adjustments. Maybe, I’ll have them off by Christmas.

Until 6 weeks post op, I’m not allowed to chew, so it’s fluids and soft foods only. I wish I could believe I’d lose weight, but my body has the ability to cling to it!

Sunday evening. So grateful to have got this far.
