One Step Closer to Solar

Tuesday

Today was the day…

We got one step closer to solar. Remember this from Saturday?

It now looks like this…

In fact, now it looks even better as all the wires are connected and plates are in place. Tomorrow is a public holiday, so it will probably only get connected to the solar panels on  Thursday.

Mike took Julian to the airport and then went onto Rubicon to buy some final stuff, only to find a notice on their door to say they were closed for their end of year office party. Mike went instead to Plumstead Electrical where he bought surge protection. Electricity going on and off can play  havoc with appliances. Hopefully this will prevent damage.

He got home close to 4pm and then we walked to Fish Hoek to do some shopping.

I’ve had a good work day but will be taking most of tomorrow off.

From my window, I’ve been laughing at the starlings. They are generally greedy, messy and unpleasant birds but they are sometimes fun to watch. I put some old grapes out on the balcony and they lost no time in grabbing them – taking 2 at a time and flying to the top of the chimney of the cottage. There they put them down and then offered them to their chicks which were in a tree close by. When the chick turned the grape down, the parent ate it. The chicks were sucking nectar out of the flowers on the tree. The babies are getting big and able to fly all over the place now. It’s certainly been entertaining watching them from this height. My bird feeders have gone up onto the side balcony, but the white-eyes have yet to find them. I need to be patient.

Last night when the President spoke, not too many restrictions have been added. Alcohol sales are restricted from Monday to Thursday and the curfew has been extended and is now 11pm to 4am. This means that there will be no Christmas Eve church services or New Year’s Eve parties. Beaches in the hot spots are closed. We are glad that doesn’t include ours.  The numbers are down today in the Western Cape which is helpful.

Covid numbers in the Western Cape –1177 new cases over the last 24 hours.

These three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

The best is yet to come.

Keep the smile going.

God bless you.

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂
