Mountain Walk

Sunday

Today was the day…

Adrian, Stacey and Elsie returned to Swellendam. It was soooo good to see them!

We spent a quiet morning and then in the afternoon, we walked up Silvermine. I have not done this for years – at least 3 or maybe 4 years. Nothing has changed. The Silvermine dam is still the same, albeit it fuller than I remember. The bridge is looking good…

The flora and fauna is amazing.

Our Creator is a God of abundance, that’s for sure!

The views are expansive…

It was good to get out while it was overcast and cool. The walk is not particularly long, but is truly satisfying. To get up to the platform above is a bit of a scramble. I think it is the foundations of an old foresters cottage before the forests were cut down. The path begins under a copse of trees. Unless you know about it,  you may not find it.

Jens sent us this photo.

He’s been staying in the holiday cottage on the mountain behind us. He and his family start the long journey back to Pretoria tomorrow. They traveled with their dog and cat! They are from Denmark, working out of South Africa and planning on building in Simon’s Town. He came yesterday to drop off some wine. So kind of him. He said the best thing about this holiday was meeting us because we told him about our build. The initial quote for his build was a whopping R9 million. Werner can do it for a fraction of that, so he is so grateful for us telling him about our build and particularly, our builder.

This evening we had Chinese for dinner. We’ve just got back from walking to the end of Echo Rd. We bumped into neighbours on the Fish Hoek side of us. They rent the house and the owner, who lives in Germany, is arriving a week tomorrow. I must drop him a line.

New week. Lots to look forward to.

Psalm 9:18

God will never forget the needy; the hope of the afflicted will never perish.

The best is yet to come – we are only passing through.

Keep the smile going.

God bless you.

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂
